- Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
Is a biographical sports drama film based on the life of Milkha Singh, an Indian athlete who was a national champion runner and an Olympian. Starring Farhan Akhtar in the lead, it is an exemplary movie that showcases the life of one of India’s most iconic athlete and how he overcomes many agonising obstacles in order to become a world champion.
- No One Killed Jessica
Is a biographical thriller based on the murder of a model, Jessica Lal who was murdered by Manu Sharma, the son of a Congress-nominated Member of Parliament. The story is a great portrayal of investigative journalism along with the power figures in the society and how they influence judgment. The character of Jessica’s older sister, Sabrina Lal, is played by Vidya Balan, and the character of the news reporter following the story is played by Rani Mukherji.
- Black Friday
The movie is based on the infamous 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts and how it ripped the city apart. The 1993 Mumbai bombings were a series of 12 bomb explosions that took place across Mumbai. The movie covers all aspects of the bomb blasts along with the investigation that followed.
Based on Noida double murder case, which happened in 2008, the movie starring Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Neeraj Kabi explores the story in depth. In the case, a teenage girl and their servant were murdered and her parents were convicted for the same.
Released in 2016, the movie stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role and is based on an Indian Businessman Ranjit Katiyal who leads a happy life in Kuwait. The story is around when Iraq invaded Kuwait and how more than 175,000 Indian citizens were airlifted to safety back home.

Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead, the movie is based on an incident that happened in Mumbai in 1987 when a group of people pretended to be CBI officers to execute a fake income tax raid in a jewellery shop in Mumbai.
Based on the Pan Am Flight 73 highjack in Karachi, Pakistan, has Sonam Kapoor in the lead role. The highjack resulted in the death of 20 passengers that included head purser Neerja Bhanot. Sonam Kapoor received a special mention for the film at National Awards ceremony.

Is a biographical film based on the life of lawyer Shahid Azmi. Shahid is allegedly arrested by police for assassinating some politicians. He is brutally tortured by police and forced to admit the crime. A fellow jail mate inspires him to start his college education.
